Andy Robertson and Darwin Nunez's brilliant reaction to Liverpool moment vs AC Milan

Send Push

Liverpool needed to come from behind against AC Milan in the Champions League but after going one down by conceding to a Christian Pulisic strike into the bottom corner, Arne Slot's side didn't really look back.

It was, in the end, a dominant and convincing performance. Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai scored the goals and Mohamed Salah hit the crossbar twice. The win could have been even more emphatic than it was, though a comfortable three points away at the San Siro is nothing to be sniffed at.

When Konate's header found the back of the net after a good cross into the box from a set-piece by Trent Alexander-Arnold, substitutes Andy Robertson and Darwin Nunez were spotted gleefully jumping for joy as they warmed up.

The Liverpool pair appeared to be sharing a joke — perhaps expressing their surprise that it was Konate who scored the goal given how rare that is — as they laughed and slapped each other on the back while jumping up and down. The delighted reaction was spotted by television cameras while Slot, celebrating his 46th birthday, was also more animated than usual on the touchline.

Liverpool head coach Slot has generally been very cool and calm on the sidelines so far but this was probably as emotional as he has been to date. The Reds needed to find a way back into the game quickly before AC Milan got more of a foothold and that Konate equalizer then allowed Van Dijk to power his team in front.

Liverpool.com says: After losing to Nottingham Forest last weekend, this was exactly what the Reds needed. It was no bad thing, in fact, for Liverpool to go one behind here and prove that it can turn things around. Last weekend in the Premier League, after the visitor's opener, that felt like the result was sealed. This time, things were completely different.
