Arsenal strongest XI after Eberechi Eze, Rodrygo and Benjamin Sesko £200m transfer swoop

Mikel Arteta will be facing a number of welcome Arsenal dilemmas if sporting director, Andrea Berta, is able to complete three dream transfers. The Gunners are pursuing multiple targets with Kepa Arrizabalaga confirmed as their first summer addition on Tuesday.

Signing a back-up goalkeeper was an aim for Arteta and that has seemingly been completed with the Spaniard's arrival from Chelsea, although he is joining as competition to David Raya.

Two more transfer announcements are imminent with deals for Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard agreed and a new financial year underway that means the former's switch from Real Sociedad can be ratified. Making a move for the Brentford captain was not on Arteta's agenda until contract extension talks for Thomas Partey failed to progress.

Back on to their planned additions, a striker, wide forward and defender were positions targeted with Cristhian Mosquera of Valencia as their priority for the latter. An opening offer was rejected by the Spanish club, but talks have continued with a second and improved proposal soon to be submitted.

Once that deal is complete, all focus will go on to attacking additions - with Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres, Rodrygo, Rafael Leao and Ebereche Eze as concrete options. Two of those five names coming into the Emirates Stadium looked likely, but now three could arrive.

Sesko and Rodrygo appear to be the most likely winger and centre-forward additions with the Real Madrid star once again not used by Xabi Alonso in their Club World Cup last-16 victory over Juventus.

Talks between the Real head coach and Rodrygo are scheduled for after the tournament in the United States with Arsenal waiting to learn of his decision. As for Sesko, negotiations with RB Leipzig appear to be stagnating, but the latest reports were that a compromise had been met at £64.3million (€75m).

A meeting with Eze's representatives took place this past weekend with it looking as though he would be fill the wide forward void - however The Athletichave claimed a pursuit of the Crystal Palace star will be in addition to a striker and winger signing.

Three marquee incomings in the frontline would bolster up Arsenal's squad depth significantly and, while it could leave Arteta with some big decisions to make in attack, the back-five virtually picks itself.

Raya, Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba will continue to be the defensive spine with Jurrien Timber and Myles Lewis-Skelly as the full-backs. Ben White, Riccardo Calafiori and Jakub Kiwior can provide cover.

To fit in core players such as Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and captain Martin Odegaard, one of the big new signings will have to be left out. Considering the options available in their positions, Sesko and Rodrygo are the most likely to be guaranteed starters.

That means that one out of Odegaard, Zubimendi, Eze and Rice will have to be left out of their midfield three. The opposition will sometimes make that decision, but as the latter is capable of covering at No.6, more often that not it will Zubimendi as the player on the bench.

The Spain midfielder will still have a very important role to play and the vast amount of options will only serve as a boost for Arteta especially when injuries inevitably strike.
