Chelsea are set to be slapped with a £75,000 fine after becoming the first team in history to receive six or more yellow cards in three games within a single season.

faced off , securing a victory thanks to goals from and Nicolas Jackson. However, their triumph was marred by multiple clashes with referee Simon Hooper. Six players, along with manager Enzo Maresca, were shown yellow cards by Hooper.

Defender was booked just 11 minutes into the game, followed by Romeo Lavia shortly after half-time. Noni Madueke, Robert Sanchez, and Pedro Neto all received bookings in the final 10 minutes, while both Maresca and Christopher Nkunku were cautioned during injury time.

This follows matches against Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest where Chelsea also had six or more players booked. After the win over Bournemouth in September, the FA issued a £25,000 fine, which was increased to £50,000 following the clash with Forest.

Mirror Football has confirmed that Chelsea can anticipate another substantial fine, somewhat tarnishing Sunday's victory. In a statement, the FA said: "This will be a £75k fine for Chelsea for 6+ cautioned in today's game (third multi-participant misconduct of the season)."

Palmer's early strike was disallowed by VAR, but Jackson soon put the Blues ahead at the 18-minute mark. Newcastle's Alexander Isak equalised with a close-range effort before Palmer secured Chelsea's win with a shot from just inside the box.

Maresca expressed satisfaction with his team's performance to Sky Sports. "It was a different kind of game compared to the rest. We know how strong they are and how good they are. We had some good moments on the ball, very happy overall," he said.

"I am always concerned. We can attack better and defend better. We started three months ago so I am very happy where we are now. The important thing is the feeling is good. We play nine games already. I am not looking at the table at the moment.

"If you do that sometimes you can be confused. The players are understanding every day what we are working for. The fans can enjoy and dream. Us as a club and as players, we need to understand there are many things we can do better."
