Coronation Street theory 'exposes Joel's unexpected killer' - and they're not a suspect

Send Push

fans think they might know who really killed Joel Deering, with the truth being revealed next week.

Ahead of flashbacks showing Joel's final moments and who really murdered him in September, viewers believe a character not yet named as a suspect could be to blame. Suspects currently include Kit Green, DS Lisa Swain, Mason Radcliffe, Carla Connor, and Dee-Dee, Ed and Ronnie Bailey.

But now fans think in a twist, another character will be exposed as the person who killed Joel. The character in question appears to have an alibi for the night it happened, but it's been hinted they are hiding something. Now viewers think Max Turner will be revealed as the killer next week after coming up with some clues.

His dad David Platt claimed Max was at home that night with now-girlfriend Lauren Bolton. But given Lauren and Max have been acting oddly about something that happened that evening, might Max be hiding a killer secret?

Some fans certainly think so, with speculation circulating that Max killed Joel, after the way he treated Lauren. Joel had groomed Lauren, before attacking her and almost killing her.

After she fell pregnant with his child, Joel then tried to kill her unborn baby. So with Joel causing more drama that day, did Max confront Joel and end up killing him?

A theory read: "I want everyone to really think about this. They’ve shown us a lot of flashbacks over the last few weeks, but the number one character that’s kind of been hiding in plain sight in terms of interactions with and around Joel, especially at the hospital, is Max.

"Let’s take stock of every protective interaction he has had with Lauren and then follow that up with the high emotions of her continually being afraid of random sounds that she hears at night. If at some point he learns that Joel is trying to escape, his immediate reaction would be to go after Joel, especially if Joel tries to visit the Platt house.

"Given his distinct, deep, emotional connection to Lauren, especially if he attempts to steal Frankie from Lauren under the cover of darkness. He is the only character that would see red and say I’m going to [end] this guy for once and for all so that the person that I am in love with can be safe.

"And the reason we haven’t seen any flashbacks from Max is because you have all these other small moments of interaction to clue in the viewer." A response to this theory read: "I agree that it’s Max and Lauren. They are definitely lying about sleeping together and her sleeping on the couch that night. They also have the strongest motive."
