England handed boost in Thomas Tuchel pursuit as Bayern Munich compensation confirmed

The FA have been handed a huge boost in their attempt to make Thomas Tuchel the next England coach, with not expected to demand a fee for the German.

Tuchel at the end of last season, a year earlier than his contract expired. He has remained on the Bayern payroll after leaving his position, effectively meaning he has been on leave.

The German coach has been out of work since then, but for the vacant England job. Tuchel has emerged as the frontrunner, with talks now at an advanced stage.

While there are the optics of a German coach managing England to deal with, Tuchel has an outstanding CV having . A deal is yet to be finalised and discussions with Bayern are likely to be needed to free him from his contract.

But in a boost for the FA, report that Bayern promised Tuchel he would be free to leave his deal at any time without any interested suitors having to pay a transfer fee. That would mean there would be no compensation needed, unlike if the FA were to pursue boss Eddie Howe.

Bayern have not yet been formally informed of an impending move to England from Tuchel. Though this fresh information would clear the way for a fairly easy negotiation between FA chiefs and the German coach.

Tuchel has already received the backing of Three Lions skipper for the job. While he insisted he has not been told of any potential deal, Kane failed to hide his admiration of Tuchel, having working under him at Bayern.

"To be honest, I haven't heard anything specific about it yet. That's why I can't really comment on it until it's officially announced," Kane told Sky Germany when asked about Tuchel's talks with the FA.

"We'll have to wait and see what happens. I obviously know Thomas very well from the last year. He's a fantastic coach and a fantastic person. I'm sure the FA will contact me when they know more about this issue."

Kane started on Sunday as the Three Lions defeated Finland, having missed the defeat to last week through injury. Following the Nations League win, interim boss Lee Carsley made clear his belief that a 'world-class coach' was needed for the full-time role.

"I've not really thought much about it. I keep saying the same thing. My remit was six games and I'm happy with that. This is a privileged position. I'm really enjoying it but I didn't enjoy the last two days," he told .

"I'm not used to losing in an England team, I don't take losing well. People are always going to try and put their chips on one side. I'm in the middle. My bosses have made it clear what they need from me. This job deserves a class coach who has won trophies and I am still on the path to that."
