Ex-Liverpool wonderkid has contract terminated just MONTHS after signing four-year deal

Former youth star Ryan Kent has had his contract terminated, just 16 months after signing a four-year deal with the Turkish giants.

Kent came through the ranks at Anfield after joining the club aged seven and was tipped to be a future superstar - though he only ever made one senior appearances for the Reds in the 2015-16 season.

The winger was loaned out a number of times before eventually finding success with Rangers and secured a permanent move to Ibrox in 2019. Kent became a favourite of ex-Gers boss and was instrumental in helping them win the Scottish Premiership title in his second season.

He went on to play 218 times for Rangers before sealing a free transfer to Fenerbahce last year, but the move did not go to plan as he played just 19 times across in total. Now 27, he is a free agent after the club agreed to rip up his contract.

In a brief statement, the club said: "The contract with Ryan Kent, one of the Professional A Team players, has been terminated by mutual agreement. We present it to the public."

claimed Fenerbahce boss had told Kent he would not play again for the team as long as he was in charge - with the player understood to have turned down multiple offers to leave the club this summer, including a return to .

Kent has not yet uploaded any pictures or videos of his time at Fenerbahce on his account in the 16 months he has been in Turkey, with his last post paying tribute to Rangers.

The player issued an emotional statement after leaving the Ibrox outfit in 2023 as he said he would carry the club in his heart forever.

"My time at Ibrox is something I will remember for the rest of my life," he said. "I immediately fell in love with the club and fans and have made some memories that I will look back on with great happiness.

"As a kid, it is a dream to play in European competitions, and win leagues and cups, but to do that in front of the Ibrox crowds is something else entirely, it’s a privilege. I will forever carry Rangers in my heart."

With Kent now a free agent, the have reported that Rangers have been put on red alert over a potential return to Ibrox, with a handful of English teams also understood to carry interest.
