'Frustrating' Tottenham star deactivates Instagram account after Arsenal defeat

Send Push

Brennan Johnson has deactivated his Instagram account in the wake of Tottenham's loss to Arsenal.

They were unable to wrestle back the north London bragging rights as their poor recent record in the fixture continued. Johnson was part of a Tottenham attack that couldn't breach the Gunners backline as his own inconsistencies continued to be a cause of frustration.

Johnson is into his second season in the capital having made a lucrative move from Nottingham Forest. Criticism has come his way though and the Welshman looks to have had enough with his social media profile no longer being active.

The majority of Premier League players post after games, but it invites criticism from fans in the comments section. Johnson is seemingly looking to shield himself from the noise as Tottenham lose for a second time in four games.

The 23-year-old scored five times in his debut season with the north Londoners, but is yet to make his mark this year. Former Tottenham man Jamie O'Hara, who can be a vocal critic, was at the game and tweeted: "Brennan Johnson is even more frustrating to watch in the flesh than he is on TV".

That isn't the first time the retired midfielder has pointed out Johnson's flaws, doing so previously on talkSPORT when he suggested that the Tottenham man doesn't think enough when the ball is at his feet.

He has commented: “Look, you are someone who had loads of pace, right? I just feel like sometimes his feet work quicker than his brain, do you know what I mean? I am looking at him, like going, go and sort out your feet out, and you will score. Sort your feet out and you will go past him.”

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou watched his side struggle to breach the Arsenal defence with Dominic Solanke having several half chances in the first-half. He is waiting for his first goal following his summer switch as his manager bemoaned their inability to make their dominance count.

"I thought it was a tight game all the way along," he said. "We controlled it for the most part and got off to a good start. We didn't capitalise on the opportunities and we were unable to get on top of them."
