'I'm a vet and here are the four breeds of cat I would never own'

A vet has revealed four breeds of he would never own due to reasons - and some may surprise you.

Cats are one of the UK's most popular but a vet has warned against owning certain breeds explaining some of them can be quite aggressive. He has taken to to reveal the cat breeds he wouldn't want as pets. Ben the Vet, who boasts a following of 5.1 million on the platform, shared his thoughts on four popular feline breeds, explaining why they're not for him. He kicked off his list by saying he'd never own a Bengal, despite acknowledging their beauty and stunning .

However, he explained that due to their hybrid nature - a mix of wild and domestic cats - they can be quite aggressive and require a lot of stimulation, making them unsuitable for many homes. Next up, he admitted he wouldn't want to own a Sphynx because he "prefers cuddling a fluffy cat". The Scottish Fold was another breed he wouldn't buy due to their main feature, curly ears, being a result of a cartilage disorder.

This defective cartilage is also found in all of their joints, leading to painful at a young age. He concluded by saying he wouldn't want to support the breeding of Scottish Fold cats due to their potential suffering, reports . Nabbing the top spot of pets to avoid, our expert declares he would steer clear of Persian cats due to their squashed faces causing a myriad of health issues. He elaborated: "I have seen Persian cats whose noses look inverted into their face and their eyes bulge beyond their nose. People don't realise they can struggle to breathe just as badly as some of the flat-faced dog breeds. It is for the same reasons on the whole - their nostrils are too small, all of the bones in their nasal passage are crowded together, and their tear ducts usually don't work properly."

He noted that although some breeders are attempting to rectify these issues, they're vastly outnumbered. A video commenter bemoaned: "The original Persian cat was so beautiful and I'm so upset we've bred them to this extreme." Another highlighted: "Poor Persians. People really need to open their eyes."
