Heavyweight legend has issued a strong warning to and believes the young American 'better be ready' ahead of his fight .
Holmes knows exactly what it's like to get punched in the face by the legend. After taking a two year break from the sport following back-to-back defeats to Michael Spinks in 1985 and 1986, the 74-year-old's comeback bout was against 'Iron Mike,' and it didn't go well. Despite putting up a bit of a fight early on, Tyson went on to knock the heavyweight icon out in the fourth round.
Nearly 20 years after retiring from the sport of boxing, Tyson is scheduled to return to the ring. His last professional outing took place against in 2005, a fight in which he lost. That said, he did, compete in an exhibition showdown with four years ago.
'Iron Mike' is scheduled to face Paul in front of up to 90,000 fans. The young American has made a real name for himself in the sport since making his debut in 2020. He has already defeated the likes of Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz. His only defeat came last year.

Many people have feared for Tyson's health since the confirmation of the heavyweight dust-up. However, despite all the concerns for the 58-year-old, Holmes believes Paul should be slightly worried ahead of the bout. In an interview with , he said: "I watched a clip of Mike Tyson this morning and all I can say is Jake better be ready if he’s going to fight Mike. Mike will be able to last the two minute rounds. Mike comes to fight when he puts his mind to it, he goes to work on you. And that’s what I've seen today. And if this guy tries to trade punches with Mike, he loses."
He added: "Mike is a puncher. I fought Mike and he hit me and that was the end of it. Earnie Shavers was one of the hardest punchers there’s ever been and Mike is right up there with him at the top. Earnie Shavers was the hardest I've ever faced but when Tyson hits, he tries to kill you. And Mike can take a good punch, I hit him a couple of times and he kept on coming. Jake will hit him, but Mike is going to keep on coming. He better be ready for Mike to keep coming forward with punches.
After facing Tyson in the ring, fellow boxing legend Jones Jr also : "Mike Tyson is still the strongest puncher that I’ve ever been in the ring with. Ever. Now I think he’s 57, maybe 58— yet he’s still the strongest puncher. The first time he hit me on my chin, I felt like a mule had kicked me in my chest."
When asked at a recent press conference why he’s fighting Tyson, Paul replied: “Making history. This is what it's all about for me, man. I'm a kid from Ohio. They'll never give me credit. That's the way it is. If I was walking on water, they would say it's because I couldn't swim. And this is to make history. The people think I'm going to get knocked out by this strong, powerful guy.
“All the people in my comments say, ‘look at his power. He's going to get KO’d.’ This has taken a chance to fight somebody as vicious as Mike can be. You got to risk it for the biscuit. That's the name of the game.”
