Spanish outfit is eyeing a successful spell with the Premier League champion.
The 24-year-old Norwegian has started the season in fine form, netting 11 goals in his first 10 games. Despite expressing contentment at and thriving under manager , Haaland has cast doubt over his long-term future at the club on several occasions. If Haaland leaves City, that would significantly weaken one of Liverpool's biggest rivals and strengthen .
His current contract is set to expire in 2027, and City bosses are keen to secure him on a new deal. Spanish publication reported last week that the former Borussia Dortmund and Red Bull Salzburg striker has decided to leave City at the end of this season, coinciding with Guardiola's contract expiration.
While Real Madrid have shown interest, Barcelona is now believed to be preparing a bid, led by president Joan Laporta. According to Catalan newspaper , Laporta plans to make a 'media signing' before his term ends in 2026, hoping to lure Haaland to a newly renovated Nou Camp.
Guardiola's anticipated exit is believed to be a key factor in the 24-year-old's wish to switch clubs, although Barcelona would need to address its financial woes to secure his signature. Haaland pockets a basic wage of £375,000 per week ($490,000), more than any of Barcelona's current players.
Laporta and his team are planning to eventually replace forward Robert Lewandowski, who recently celebrated his 36th birthday. If he fails to feature in 55 percent of Barcelona's matches this season, his contract will end next June.
However, that seems unlikely as the Polish sharpshooter has started all 11 of their games under new boss Hansi Flick, netting an impressive 12 goals and looking rejuvenated as Barca sit atop La Liga.
Lewandowski, who thrived under Flick at former club Bayern Munich, would only remain under contract until June 2026 if he surpasses that appearance threshold. Bayern had eyed Haaland as Lewandowski's successor before his move to City and now it's Barcelona who hope to make that a reality.
It's claimed Laporta wants to bring Haaland to Cataluyna regardless, while Athletic Bilbao and Spain winger Nico Williams remains a long-term target.
