Liverpool mass brawl: Streets locked down after huge fights break out between armed men

Three men have been rushed to hospital following a huge which saw an area in descend into chaos, with police quickly cordoning the road off.

Shocking images from the scene captured a van with a smashed windscreen as several police cars and ambulances assembled to begin their enquiries. said "we are taking this extremely seriously" as they announced they had already arrested three men following reports that a group of males, some armed with weapons, began fighting on the residential Lower Breck Road earlier today.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, and following initial inquiries, three men aged 41, 36 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of s18 assault. Another three were taken to hospital to receive treatment for injuries, the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

Congestion has since built in the area with locals being turned after attempting to drive up towards the cordons, the reports. Chief Inspector Paul Rannard said: “We are in the very early stages of an investigation and a cordon remains in place at the scene as officers carry out the initial inquiries. This is a shocking incident that occurred in a busy area of Anfield and would have been witnessed by members of the community. Please be reassured that we are taking this extremely seriously and we have already made three arrests.

“If you witnessed what happened or have any information, please come forward. Similarly, if you live in the area or happened to be driving past, please check your CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to see if you captured anything. Even if it appears insignificant, please get in touch as it could prove vital to our inquiries.

“We are determined to establish the full circumstances of this incident. While we do this, it’s vital that people avoid speculation, especially on social media, which could unnecessarily increase anxiety and fear in the community.”
