Former midfielder Didi Hamann believes has a very good chance of winning the after
The Reds have won 10 of their first 11 games in all competitions, including seven of eight in the league, and overcame their first big test of the season on Sunday when .
Chelsea went into the game in fourth place in the standings having started the season encouragingly under new manager Enzo Maresca, but Liverpool was the deserved winner through goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones.
Manchester City ensured the gap between itself and Liverpool remained a solitary point with John Stones' injury time winner against Wolves, but the Reds did open up a four-point lead over Arsenal in the table after the Gunners were beaten 2-0 by Bournemouth.
Hamann thinks that the team is functioning well enough to go all the way this season. "I think Liverpool have shown they can win the Premier League, apart from the Nottingham Forest game, they've been brilliant," he told . "The team functions well, everyone is happy and psychologically, and the win against Chelsea is huge. It was an even game but Liverpool came out on top, which is a massive sign of intent."
Liverpool's and Arsenal's chances were both boosted in unfortunate circumstances last month when Rodri sustained a season-ending knee injury. The Manchester City midfielder has been one of the best players in the world in recent years and his absence no doubt hinders Pep Guardiola's sides chances of winning the title for a fifth successive year.
Arsenal itself, though, dropped points over the weekend and has only won five of its eight league games so far this season, failing to beat Brighton, Manchester City and Bournemouth - all games in which Mikel Arteta's side had a man sent off. Hamann believes these two things combined will also aid Liverpool's title chances.
Hamann added: "Manchester City have lost Rodri, he can't be replaced and Arsenal dropped points, I think Liverpool have a great chance to win the Premier League and go far in the Champions League."
