The 58-year-old icon was advised to stop training, but has since returned to the gym and insists he will be fit to fight next month.

Since the confirmation of the bout, many within the community have slammed the decision to go ahead with the event due to the 31 year age gap between the two fighters. Tyson's last professional fight took place in 2005 when he suffered a defeat to Kevin McBride. However, the 58-year-old did compete in an exhibition contest with Roy Jones Jr four years ago.

After making his debut back in 2020, Paul has since been competing regularly. During his short career so far, the 27-year-old has defeated the likes of Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz. The co-main event will see an epic sequel between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano take place. Taylor secured a split decision victory at Madison Square Garden in the first encounter two years ago. However, there were a few who felt as if 'The Real Deal' did enough to get the job done.

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has recently doubled down on criticism regarding Tyson vs Paul and has sensationally admitted he will leave the arena after Taylor's fight. "We received a massive offer for Katie. I'm not going to tell her she's not allowed to fight on that card," . "Financially it's the biggest purse of her career. I won't be watching the main event. We'll be there defending the belts, and then I'll be off."

Speaking about the main event, Hearn said: "The reality is that 20 years ago when Mike Tyson retired from the sport he was shot, completely finished. It was actually sad to watch then, 20 years ago. I'm in awe of him - he's one of my favourite ever fighters, one of the greatest of all time - but he's a 58-year-old man. You only need to speak to him and look at him to know this guy should not be in a ring again."

Also on the undercard, it was announced that Shadasia Green will take on undefeated fighter Melinda Watpool for the vacant WBO super middleweight title. Two unbeaten stars in Bruce "Shu Shu" Carrington Jr and Lucas "Prince" Bahdi will also compete on the card, taking on Dana Coolwell and Corey Marksman respectively.
