Queen Camilla to be portrayed as Prince Harry's 'wicked stepmother' in controversial new C4 documentary

Queen Camilla is set to be portrayed as Prince Harry ’s “wicked stepmother” in a controversial new documentary to be aired on Channel 4, it is reported today.

The broadcast of the documentary was said to have been delayed after King Charles’ cancer diagnosis made the makers fear a backlash from the public. The doc will allegedly portray Camilla as having spent 30 years carefully crafting her media image and the channel apparently is well prepared for it to be “hugely controversial”.

It will reportedly contain the suggestion that the late Queen Elizabeth never wanted Camilla to sit on the throne as Queen, and will be very much “pro Harry”.

A source told The Sun: "This is very much a pro-Harry, anti-Camilla documentary. It presents him and Meghan as victims of the family’s unkindness. It’s going to cause serious waves — and Channel 4 know it. They know this is hugely controversial. A lot of people aren’t going to like it, especially at Buckingham Palace."

The show, reportedly set to be titled Camilla: Harry’s ‘Wicked’ Stepmother? is set to be broadcast within weeks from now.

It is reported that producers contacted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in California requesting that they contribute to the documentary, but it is claimed that no-one from the Duke and Duchess’s people responded.

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan’s Archewell foundation said: “Neither Duke or Duchess, nor their team, participated in the making of this documentary. We would safely like to assume it will state as such in the show.”

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: “It will be looking at Camilla’s biography and background. It is yet to be scheduled.”

In an extract from his memoir Spare, that was leaked before the book was released, it was revealed that Harry claims to have begged his father King Charles not to marry Camilla - and accused her of leaking stories.

In his tell-all autobiography, Harry says he and Prince William begged their father not to marry Camilla - but that they would welcome her into the family.

It is claimed both Harry and William did approve of their stepmother but they were not keen on their father marrying for a second time after the death of their mother Princess Diana.

Meanwhile, Harry also alleges that Camilla leaked details of a meeting she had with William to the press and dishes on his first meeting with her.

It also says that Harry claims meeting Camilla for the first time was like awaiting an injection and that she appeared bored as they chatted about horses - and once pondered if she would become his "wicked stepmother".
