On November 6, banks will be closed in Shillong on the occasion of the Nongkrem Dance. This is a special five-day festival in which men and women perform traditional dances and a goat sacrifice ritual is also performed. On November 7, all banks in Shillong will also be closed on the occasion of the Wangala Festival. On this day, tribal people offer sacrifices to please their main deity, Saljong or the Sun God.
