Google Discover, the AI-powered personalized feed that showcases articles, videos, and media based on user interests, is about to receive a major upgrade. Google has announced that the feed will now include content from Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and X (formerly known as Twitter), as well as updates from publishers and creators around the world. Support for more platforms is expected soon.
Why is this update important?
Google says this change is based on feedback from users who prefer to see mixed content—articles, videos, and social posts—all in one place. This move will make it easier for people to find trending content without having to switch between different apps.
New 'Follow' Button for Personalization
To make the feed more useful for users, Google has introduced a new 'Follow' button in the top-right corner of Discover posts. By tapping this, users can directly follow their favorite publishers or creators. Once followed, their content will appear in a dedicated space in Discover, providing quick access to updates.
You can also view recent posts by clicking on a publisher or creator's name before deciding to follow them. However, you must be signed in to your Google Account to use this feature.
Previous Discover Updates
Google is continuously improving the Discover experience. Last month (August 2025), it introduced the option to set preferred sources for search results, allowing users to avoid clickbait and stick to trusted websites.
The addition of Instagram and YouTube Shorts further strengthens Discover as a one-stop hub for personalized news and entertainment.
With these new changes, Google Discover is no longer just about news and articles; it's slowly transforming into a personalized space where you can track your favorite creators, publishers, and even social media updates all in one feed. For Indian users, this means less app-switching and more relevant, time-saving content at your fingertips.
