CBI registers case against customs superintendent in Bangaluru for alleged 'illicit enrichment'; Rs 25 lakh recovered

New Delhi [India], September 22 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case on Saturday, against the Superintendent of Customs posted at the Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Whitefield, Bangaluru, over allegations of intentional illicit enrichment during his tenure, officials said.
According to officials, the accused officer has been identified as Ramesh Chandra Tripathi.
On reliable information that customs officials of ICD, Whitefield, Bangalore were accepting illegal gratification, a joint operation was conducted by officers of CBI in coordination with officers of the Directorate General of Vigilance, Customs and Central Tax on 20.09.2024 and 21.09.2024, the agency said in a release on Sunday.
During this operation, CBI officials recovered over Rs 25 lakhs from the possession of the accused Superintendent of Customs.


Further, searches were conducted at the accused's residential premises in Bangalore, resulting in the recovery of incriminating documents.
The investigation is continuing, the agency said.
