IPL's most anticipated Qualifier 2 between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings has been getting delayed due to the rain. The playoffs were initially to take place in Kolkata, but subsequent to the suspension of the tournament following the war between India and Pakistan, the BCCI shifted the venues when the IPL resumed. Now that the match has been relocated to Ahmedabad and rain has made its way into the match, fans are agitated and displeased with the board for relocating the game.
Watch here:
Well played, @BCCI 👏 Hats off for the “prompt” decision to shift the IPL playoffs from rain-free Kolkata to a rainy Ahmedabad, all to avoid rain.

Brilliant weather forecasting. Nailed it.
Is there a special reason why Ahmedabad always gets the VIP treatment? #MIvsPBKS #IPL2025
How is the weather in Kolkata?

Bcci 🤡's shifted from Eden to Ahmedabad to avoid rain..😂 #Qualifier2 #PBKSvMI
Final was taken away from Kolkata citing rain. Now it's raining in Ahmedabad too (Narendra Modi Stadium)😀. Was it really about weather or politics? Eden deserved better.😢#EdenDeservedTheFinal @BCCI @iamsrk @IPL @ICC @KKRiders @ pic.twitter.com/2iElEyocxs

BCCI is actually run by a bunch of clowns. They shifted the qualifier 2 and final from Kolkata due to "weather concerns" and now it's raining cats and dogs in Ahmedabad. Do these lot even see weather predictions or turn a blind eye to everything as soon as it comes to money?

However, the weather in Kolkata shows no sign of rain. A slight lightning with tints of clouds is all the dwellers are getting to combat the heat. Even for the entire week, there is no sign of rain, with the temperature likely to touch 38 degrees Celsius. Earlier, the Cricket Association of Bengal had approached the BCCI with the meteorological report that did not certify the certainty of rains. Even Hyderabad, the other assigned venue for the qualifiers, is seemingly experiencing clear skies.

What if Qualifier 2 gets washed out?
Rain has been a constant trouble for today's game. The match is already delayed for an hour, and every time it looks suitable to take the field, the rain comes in. In such a situation, the match will be rewarded an extra 2 hours. Well, there are still possibilities of the match getting shortened if they can manage at least 5 overs per side by the end of the day. To get a 20-overs-a-side game, the match must start by 9:40 pm.
However, this match has no reserve day. So if the match gets abandoned, the team enjoying the higher position will directly enter the final. That means a washout will grant Punjab Kings the final match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Unfortunately, Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium does not have a great name in the drainage system.
They have been seen struggling with buckets and mops, sometimes with hair dryers to dry the outfield. Compared to that, both Kolkata and Hyderabad had better systems. And thus, it seems quite valid for fans to be enraged.
