Senior citizens get 8.15% interest rate in this FD

Senior citizens looking for stable and fixed income options have a crucial opportunity to lock in fixed deposit (FD) rates before any potential decline in them. Banks and small finance banks offer additional interest rates- 0.25% to .5%- to senior citizens on FDs compared to general citizens. RBI holds repo rate
In its October 1, 2025 Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decided to keep repo rates unchanged at 5.5%. However, banks and small finance banks can still reduce interest rates on FDs given that the transition of previous repo rate cuts is still to be completed. The central bank has reduced the repo rate by 100 bps this year.
