Giorgia Meloni is currently on a visit to the United States of America and is on a roll, winning accolades from the Commander-in-Chief of the US himself.

While the Italian Prime Minister is the first leader from Europe to visit the US President since he slapped 20% tariffs on EU exports, which he has since suspended for 90 days. And although Meloni had criticised Trump's tariff move as “wrong,” Trump called her a "very special person" and "a friend" who "has taken Europe by storm," and is doing “a fantastic job in her country.”

Trump also admitted that he does “like her very much," and told the reporters in the White House as Meloni sat across the table from him, “I think she's a great prime minister, and I think she's done a fantastic job in Italy. We are very proud of her.” He also called the Italian prime minister “one of the real leaders of the world”.

While it is quite familiar for us to see Meloni receiving accolades for her political career and achievements, her personal life has also been pretty noteworthy.

Take a look.

Who is Giorgia Meloni?

Giorgia Meloni is an Italian politician who has been the Prime Minister of Italy since 2022. She is the first woman to hold this position. Meloni has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies since 2006 and has led the Brothers of Italy party (FdI) since 2014. She was also the President of the European Conservatives and Reformists Party from 2020 to 2025.

Love life:

Meloni’s love life became the talk of the town when, last year, a photo of her with Musk looking at each other during a gala dinner went viral on the internet, sparking dating rumors of the two.

Musk had presented the Italian prime minister with the Global Citizen Award from the Atlantic Council think tank in New York in September 2024, during which he described her as “someone who is even more beautiful inside than outside” and “authentic, honest, and thoughtful.”

However, the Tesla CEO denied any romance between him and Meloni, saying, “I was there with my Mom. There is no romantic relationship whatsoever with PM Meloni.”

Although the brush with Musk was merely a rumor, Meloni’s love life had attracted a fair amount of public gaze just a year before that.

In October 2023, Meloni publicly broke up with her then-partner Andrea Giambruno. The “family-first” prime minister of Italy took to social media to announce the split from Giambruno.

The romance:

Meloni met Giambruno for the first time at a TV studio in 2014, where Giambruno was the presenter of a news programme aired by Mediaset, part of the MFE media group owned by the heirs of the late Silvio Berlusconi, a former prime minister and Meloni ally.

The duo embarked on a relationship and had a daughter in 2016.

The split:

Meloni called it quits on her relationship with Giambruno over lewd comments in which he grabbed his genital area as he propositioned a co-host to a “threesome or foursome,” which led to the suspension of his television show.

Video excerpts from one of Giambruno's programs showed him using foul language, touching his groin, and appearing to make advances to a female colleague, reported Reuters. In the mentioned video, which was shot during a commercial break in front of a live audience, and posted on the program’s social media accounts and website, Giambruno was seen walking around the set and heard asking a female co-host if she has a boyfriend, which she said she did, and he responded with, "Why didn't I meet you before!"

Then Giambruno asked if she wanted to have group sex, asking her if he minded if he touched his genital area, which he did, while talking to her, according to the video published by the program.

The co-host was seen looking down at the desk during his comments.

Meloni took to social media to announce the split from Giambruno two days after the video of his lewd behavior went viral, saying, “My relationship with Andrea Giambruno, which lasted almost ten years, ends here. I thank him for the splendid years we spent together, for the difficulties we went through, and for giving me the most important thing in my life, which is our daughter Ginevra.”

In her social media post, Meloni also wrote, “Our paths have diverged for some time, and the time has come to acknowledge it. I will defend what we were, I will defend our friendship, and I will defend, at all costs, a seven-year-old girl who loves her mother and loves her father, as I was unable to love mine.”

Reflecting on how her political career might be affected by her personal life, Meloni remarked, "all those who hoped to weaken [her] by attacking [her] personal life should know that however much the drop of water tries to dig out the stone, the stone remains stone and the drop is only water".
