But KL Rahul stood as a wall in the way of RCB. KL played an unbeaten innings of 93 runs and won the match for his team in the 18th over. During this, he made an unbeaten partnership of 28 runs with Axar Patel (15) and 111 runs with Tristan Stubbs (38). KL was chosen as the Player of the Match for his excellent innings.

Phil Salt got run out due to Virat's mistake.

Delhi won the toss and decided to bowl first in this match played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Host Royal Challengers Bangalore made a stormy start while batting first. Phil Salt hit 24 runs in one over of Mitchell Starc. Due to this, RCB scored 60 runs without a wicket in 3.3 overs. But Virat Kohli's mistake in the fourth ball of the fourth over proved costly for Phil Salt. Salt played on the cover and ran for a run. Virat also took a start but stopped halfway.
