Women wait for this day throughout the year. It is believed that if married women dress up and observe their fasts on this day, then all their wishes are fulfilled.

The fast of Hartalika Teej is very difficult, and it is observed the next morning. If you want to make something special for the breaking of your fast, then here is the recipe for a dish. Actually, we are talking about Makhana Kheer, which is considered the best option for breaking the fast. It is also very healthy, so if you consume it at the time of breaking the fast, then it will not harm your health.
Ingredients for making Makhana Kheer
Makhana – 1 cup
Milk – 1 liter
Desi ghee – 1 teaspoon
Sugar – 3-4 tablespoons
Chopped dry fruits (cashews, almonds, pistachios) – 2-3 tablespoons
Cardamom powder – 1/2 teaspoon
Saffron – a few strands (soaked in hot milk)
Method
The method of making Makhana Kheer is quite easy. For this, you have to roast the makhanas first. To roast the makhanas, first put some desi ghee in a heavy-bottom pan and then add makhanas to it. Now roast it while stirring on a low flame. You have to roast it till it becomes crispy; otherwise, the kheer will not taste good. Now, either put it in the mixer and grind it a little coarsely.
Keep in mind that you just have to cut it into pieces; do not grind it finely. After coarse grinding, it is now time to boil the milk for the kheer. So put the milk to boil in a pan.

When the milk starts thickening, add coarsely ground makhana to it. After this, stir it continuously. Cook it on a low flame for 10-15 minutes so that the makhana melts well in the milk. When the makhana melts, add sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron threads to it.
Finally, add dry fruits as per taste. Now cook it for two to three minutes and then turn off the gas. You can make it and keep it in the fridge and consume it at the time of breaking the fast.
