Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday had reached Digha ahead of the inauguration of Jagannath temple on April 30. After inspecting the temple, Mamata said that the architecture of the temple is ‘fusion of spirituality and harmony’.
“Several tourists come to Digha for the sea. With this temple it will attract more tourists. The consecration will be on the day of Akshay Tritiya but the other yagnas have started. This temple will add a feather in Bengal’s history,” said Mamata.
Today, I visited Digha to personally review the preparations for the temple’s inauguration and the grand Mahayajna. Necessary instructions have been issued to ensure seamless arrangements for all devotees arriving from across Bengal and beyond.

“As promised, on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya, April 30, 2025, we will begin the process of rebuilding and renovating the Hindu temples in Murshidabad district that were damaged by the jihadist attacks. These temples currently bear the marks of the heinous, reprehensible and barbaric attacks by the jihadis. The purification and reformation process will be carried out by properly observing all traditional religious rituals,” said Adhikari.
