Sawan Vrat Tyohar 2025: Sawan is a festival of sacrifice, blessings and joy of Lord Shiva in the form of Pashupati. Nature also becomes very beautiful in this month as greenery spreads all around due to rain. Fasting, Jalabhishek, Rudrabhishek, Mahamrityunjay Jaap and Kanwar Yatras are carried out in Sawan.
This year the holy month of Sawan will start from 11th July and will continue till 9th August 2025. Important dates of Sawan Shiv Puja
Sawan Shivratri, Sawan Pradosh Vrat, Sawan Amavasya, Nag Panchami, Hariyali Teej, Sawan Purnima Vrat are the main dates for Shiva worship in Sawan. Jalabhishek has special importance on this day. Especially on Sawan Shivratri because on this day Shiva is anointed with the water of Kaanvad.
Rakshabandhan - The festival of Rakshabandhan signifies the unbreakable bond between brother and sister. It is said that sisters who tie a rakhi to their brother on this day at an auspicious time have a bright future and a long life. The relationship between brother and sister becomes strong.
Hariyali Teej - The Teej that falls in the month of Sawan is called Hariyali Teej. The fast of Hariyali Teej is kept as a symbol of the reunion of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. On this day, women keep a fast, wear green bangles and clothes and pray for the long life of their husbands.
