Donald Trump has responded to Team Europe's trolling after they won the Ryder Cup in his own backyard. The Europeans staved off a late comeback from hosts USA during Sunday's singles matches to retain the trophy and secure their first win on American soil since 2012.
Luke Donald's side became only the fifth European team to lift the Ryder Cup in the US, winning by 15 points to 13 at Bethpage Black in New York. Trump, a huge golf fan who hails from the city, attended the tournament on Friday, jetting in via Air Force One to support his home country.
The commander-in-chief watched as Europe built up a solid lead on day one before extending it to seven points by the close of play on Saturday. All Rory McIlroy and Co. needed to do was take three points from Sunday's 12 singles matches - easier said than done.

Keegan Bradley's USA produced a spirited fightback to make it a nervy final session before Europe eked out victory amid the hostile atmosphere at Bethpage Black. The home team's fans taunted Europe's players with brutal chants and jeers all weekend, but they had the last laugh on Sunday.
Amid the celebrations, Team Europe's players gathered to send Trump a video message. With McIlroy holding the camera in selfie mode, they sang: "Are you watching? Are you watching? Are you watching, Donald Trump?"
Captain Donald then raised the Ryder Cup towards the camera. Trump responded on Truth Social, posting: "Yes I'm watching. Congratulations."

It was a classy reply from Trump, who'd also spoken kindly to Donald during Friday's play. "Yeah, I saw Mr President and shook his hand and said hello.
"He said, 'You know what, you're becoming a real great leader'. It was nice of him to say that. It was nice of him to support this event."
USA captain, Keegan Bradley, who hasn't hidden his political allegiance, bowed down in front of the President upon his arrival. "It was great," Bradley insisted.
"That was really a cool experience. Seeing an active President on the grounds of a Ryder Cup or at a golf event, what a cool thing. The flyover with Air Force One, I'll never forget that for the rest of my life."
Bradley will want to forget most of the weekend, though, having watched his team lose the majority of paired matches on days one and two. It was only when the hosts' individual talents were allowed to shine that they truly tested Europe, although it wasn't enough to avoid defeat.
