Now renamed Final Reckoning and expected to be the series' swansong, will finally hit cinemas later this month. That means there's no better time to get up to speed with the story so far and Netflix has just made it a tad easier.
While it was a box office sensation, raking in more than $570 million, it was also a hit with critics. With a 96% rating on website Rotten Tomatoes, it ranks as the second highest rated film in the series, trailing only its immediate predecessor Fallout by a single point which scored 97%, reports .
In the latest adrenaline-pumping instalment of the Mission: Impossible series, "Dead Reckoning," Tom Cruise returns as the unstoppable Ethan Hunt. This time, he and his IMF team are on a nail-biting quest to prevent a catastrophic new weapon from wreaking havoc on humanity.
The stakes have never been higher, with the future of the world hanging in the balance and sinister forces from Ethan's past hot on their heels. It's a globe-trotting race against time where Ethan must confront an enigmatic and formidable adversary, pushing him to the brink and forcing him to weigh up what truly matters - even if it means making the ultimate sacrifice for those he holds dear.
The film sees familiar faces like Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Rebecca Ferguson returning to the fray, while Marvel stars Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, and Pom Klementieff make their debut in the high-octane franchise.
Audiences can't get enough of the thrilling action, taking to social media to express their awe. One fan raved: "Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning is absolutely amazing, a genuinely incredible film. Mission: Impossible might just be the best action franchise ever."
Another chimed in with high praise for the enduring series: "This franchise has been around for 30 years, consistently delivering top-notch entertainment. Tom Cruise, at 61 years old, continues to perform his own stunts, risking life and limb to create an unforgettable experience, and it shows. The passion in these films is unmatched in the industry. Despite its age, the franchise keeps improving, which is rare in Hollywood, where many series become formulaic and uninspired."
One fan raved: "What an absolute masterpiece of a movie this was. It was action packed and thrilling throughout. All of the actors/actresses were amazing Including the amazingly talented Tom Cruise. I can't wait for part two to see what happens when they find that submarine."
Another reviewer praised: "Some say this might be the best action movie ever. Damsels in distress, others that kick butt and take names."
They added: "It was really thrilling, with well paced action and well placed exhibition scenes. Tom Cruise still seems sprightly, but there's power in his moves, something Harrison Ford can't do without special effects. The stunt work was incredible and I often thought the stars were in real peril while making this, and loving every scene."
Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning is streaming on Netflix.
