Hours after India and Pakistan reached an understanding on stopping military actions, New Delhi on Saturday accused Islamabad of breaching it.
In a late night media briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri called upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with "seriousness and responsibility".
"We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to stop these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility,” Misri said.
India's response came after drones were reportedly spotted at several places in the bordering states of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat, and Pakistan military continued its firing along the Line of Control (LoC). The drones were reportedly shot down at several places.
"For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between the Directors General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan," he said.
"The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations and we take very very serious note of these violations," Misri said.
Blackouts were imposed in several cities including Chandigarh, Jammu, Barmer, Jaisalmer on Saturday night.
Earlier in the day, the Indian foreign secretary said that directors general of military operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan had spoken on phone and agreed to stop all firings and military action on land, air and sea with effect from 5 pm on Saturday.
The brief announcement by the foreign secretary came shortly after US President Donald Trump said India and Pakistan have agreed to a "full and immediate" ceasefire after talks mediated by the US.
