Can Alto also be made bulletproof? Know how much it will cost

Send Push

Maruti Suzuki Alto:  A car like the Alto has a light and thin structure, which can make it challenging to make it bulletproof. Bulletproof materials (such as steel and bulletproof glass) are heavy.

Bulletproof Alto: It is technically possible to make a small car like the Maruti Suzuki Alto bulletproof, but it is a complex and expensive process. Bulletproofing means modifying the car in such a way that it can provide protection from bullets, and it requires a number of security measures, such as bulletproof glass, reinforced body panels, and tires.

The biggest problem in making Alto bulletproof:

Body structure: A car like the Alto has a light and thin structure, which can make it challenging to make it bulletproof. Bulletproof materials (such as steel and bulletproof glass) are heavy, and the car's existing chassis cannot support such heavy protection materials.

Weight: Bulletproofing increases the weight of the car considerably. The engine and suspension system of a car like Alto is not strong enough to handle the extra weight properly. To manage this, major changes will have to be made in the engine, suspension, and brake system.

Fuel consumption and performance: Heavy weight will have a huge impact on the performance and fuel efficiency of the car. It can also affect the speed and driving experience of the car.

Expenditure:

The cost of bulletproofing depends on several factors, such as the level of protection required (commercial grade, or higher security levels). Typically,

bulletproofing may cost the following:

Bulletproof glass: ₹3 lakh to ₹6 lakh (major modifications to the car windows will be required to install this).

Body armouring (steel plates): ₹6 lakh to ₹10 lakh (entire body of the car will need to be covered with steel or other strong material).

Other modifications:

₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakh to strengthen the suspension system.

Upgrading the engine (if needed).

Making tyres bulletproof.

Total Expenses:

If an attempt is made to make the Alto bulletproof, its estimated cost can be from ₹ 12 lakh to ₹ 20 lakh, which is much more than the original price of the Alto.

conclusion:

Technically it is possible to bulletproof the Alto, but it would be extremely expensive and irrelevant, as the car is not designed for bulletproofing. Instead, if bulletproofing is required, cars that are structurally suitable for such protection are chosen, such as SUVs or luxury sedans.
