Motihari: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that the Centre provided more houses under the PM Awas Yojana in Bihar than the entire populations of Norway, New Zealand, and Singapore.
Modi was addressing a rally in Motihari, Bihar, with chief minister and NDA partner Nitish Kumar by his side. In his address, the PM hit out at the INDI Alliance and said that it was impossible for the poor to get houses in the state when the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) were in power.
“Today, I am extremely pleased to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for development projects worth thousands of crores of rupees from Motihari, Bihar. The NDA government is committed to the all-round development of the state. This land is the land of Champaran. This land has made history. This land of the freedom movement gave Gandhiji a new direction. Now, inspired by this very land, a new future for Bihar will also be created,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister spoke on development of the eastern part of the country to bring it at par with the north, west and south.
“The world is moving forward at a rapid pace in the 21st century. There was a time when power was solely in the hands of countries in the West. Now, countries in the East are gaining dominance and participation. Similarly, it is the era of the Eastern states in India. It is our resolve that in the days to come, Motihari’s name should shine in Eastern India just as Mumbai’s does in the western part of the country. Gaya Ji should have similar opportunities as Gurugram. Industrial development should take place in Patna, just like Pune. Santhal Pargana should also develop, just like Surat. New records in tourism should be set in Jalpaiguri and Jajpur, just as in Jaipur. The people of Birbhum should also progress, just like in Bengaluru,” the PM added.
“Under PM Awas Yojna, we gave more houses to Bihar than the entire population of Norway, New Zealand and Singapore taken together. We associated Bihar’s foxnut farmers with the world following which the prices of foxnuts increased… We are now planning to establish a Makhana Board…” Modi said.
According to him, Bihar gave him the resolve to launch Operation Sindoor against terror facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He also highlighted the benefits provided to the women of the state under the NDA government.
“I took the resolve of Operation Sindoor from the land of Bihar and the entire world watches its success today… Over 3.5 crore women got bank accounts in Bihar… In the last one-and-a-half years, over 24,000 self-help groups have been helped in Bihar with Rs 1,000 crore… Till now, there are over 20 Lakhpati Didis in Bihar…” he said.
During the day, Modi laid the foundation stones and inaugurated multiple development projects worth over Rs 7,200 crore at Motihari. Of the development projects launched by the Prime Minister, those relating to Railways would be worth Rs 5,385 crore.
