Wine is certainly a delicious drink, but it can be quite expensive if you're looking for good quality. Many wine experts recommend rather pricey options when it comes to getting the best. However, there are other options that prove a bit more affordable.
Wine expert Tom Gilbey has taken to TikTok to share one wine recommendation that tastes like it's from a £70 bottle, but is actually a much more reasonable £19. While in Burgundy, Tom tasted and served two bottles of white wine from the region, but the people he served the wine to ended up preferring the cheaper bottle.
The bottle in question was the Saint Veran 'Reserve' by Collovray et Terrier, which Tom says he has been importing annually for the last 15 years, adding that it has always been great.
Recommending the wine, he said that the smell was like Werther's original mixed with lemon and that when tasting it, he didn't want to spit the wine back out, as is typical during a wine tasting.
He said: "If I were you, I'd get myself down to somewhere like Majestic, go and buy yourself some Collovray et Terrier Saint Veran. They make very very very good wine.
"It's £19 a bottle. I'm not getting paid for this, but you should fill your boots. And if you can, leave it for a couple of years so it gets even more mature, rich and luscious."
Tom's followers were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: "This bloke makes me want to open a bottle of wine at 8 in the morning.... does that say something about me or him?"
Another added: "That's a great price. It's €23 in carrefour. FMV/Berry's used to ship it too."
