The Russo Brothers' projects, set in India and Italy respectively, were initially designed to expand the universe of the Citadel spy agency.

Vernon Sanders, the head of Amazon MGM Studios' television division, declared: "While these successful and widely enjoyed international chapters will not continue as individual series, Season 2 of Citadel will be our most exhilarating yet."

Season two's plot summary promises a rollercoaster of action, stating: "Just one month after the first season's finale, the Citadel spies are forced underground, evading Manticore agents worldwide."

Emerging from their concealment, they join forces with a new team of renegade spies to foil the schemes of Brazilian tycoon Paulo Braga, who intends to unleash a catastrophic technology developed by Citadel's very own Bernard Orlick.

Citadel features an impressive lineup of talent including Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Stanley Tucci, and Lesley Manville, reports .

Despite the success of spinoffs Honey Bunny and Diana on Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios has decided to cancel both shows in the wake of studio head Jennifer Salke's exit, who had aimed to take the series to a global audience.
