King Charles was seen in a new portrait, which was unveiled by his sister, Princess Anne, at the Scottish Parliament on Friday. The 76-year-old is seen standing in the Sunken Garden in the grounds of his beloved Highlands estate at Balmoral Castle.
Dressed in a traditional kilt made from the King Charles III tartan, the King is seen holding onto a handcrafted walking stick. In the image, he can be also seen wearing a gold signet ring on his pinky finger.
Although the ring is a symbol of the Prince of Wales, which is believed to have been passed onto him by the Duke of Windsor - who previously held the title before him, eagle-eyed fans have now speculated that the King may be sporting a new signet ring.
Some commenters have since remarked that the coat of arms on the new ring bears a resemblance to a ring once worn by his father, Prince Philip.
In younger photos of the late Duke of Edinburgh, he can be seen wearing a ring with the royal family of Greece's coat of arms on the bezel.
The new portrait was captured in 2024 by Millie Pilkington, who is one of Britain's best-known portrait photographers.
Following the reveal by Anne, The Presiding Officer, the Rt Hon Alison Johnstone MSP, said: "It was a pleasure to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to the Scottish Parliament, to unveil this portrait of His Majesty The King.

"The portrait will hang in the Parliament's Main Hall, greeting the many thousands of visitors who come through our doors every year.
"It's a striking image which is a reminder of His Majesty's love of Scotland and the affectionate connection he has with the country and its people."
Photographer Millie Pilkington also said: "It was an immense honour to be asked to take an official portrait of His Majesty in Scotland. Using the breathtaking backdrop of Balmoral gardens and the Highlands enabled me to The King's warmth and deep connection to nature and Scotland."
