How King Charles might react to new Prince Andrew drama as Firm braces for 'embarrassment'

King Charles will likely not watch the latest drama about his brother, Prince Andrew's infamous Newsnight interview, a royal expert has claimed.

Amazon Prime released A Very Royal Scandal today, a three-part series focusing on the lead-up to, and the days following Prince Andrew and his grilling by former BBC journalist Emily Maitlis over his relationship with convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

For the new three-part drama, Maitlis served as an executive producer while The Thick Of It actress Joanna Scanlan plays Andrew's former private secretary, Amanda Thirsk.

Michael Sheen took on the role of the Duke of York, while Ruth Wilson played Maitlis.

Earlier this year, Netflix released Scoop, which also focused on the same story.

As the new show hits the screens, royal expert Jennie Bond commented on what effect it will have on the royals and whether the King will watch it.

She told OK!: "Andrew really is the problem that refuses to go away.

"I'm sure the King, and indeed Andrew, wish the interview had never taken place, even though Andrew was so pleased with it immediately after the filming."

She added that the new show is different to Scoot due to Maitlis' involvement.

Ms Bond explained: "As Emily was so involved with this show - as opposed to the last one - it's getting much more publicity than I imagined it would.

"It promises to fill in quite a few blanks around the making of the interview and Andrew's demeanour before, during and afterwards.

"I don't imagine the King will watch it, but he will be made aware of its contents and any repercussions I'm sure.

"It's bound to be a further embarrassment for all concerned."
