Luke Littler took a brutal swipe at Martin Schindler after his rival defeated William O'Connor at the German Darts Championship on Saturday. Schindler fought back from 4-1 down to beat O'Connor 6-4 and cement his place in the third round, where he lost against Dirk van Duijvenbode.
Littler has become the world's most famous darts player in recent years after bursting onto the scene at the World Darts Championship as a 16-year-old at the end of 2023. The Nuke defied the odds to reach the final of the tournament before winning the competition a year later. He also won the Premier League Darts event last year and is now estimated to be worth a staggering £1.6million, despite the fact he won't turn 19 until January.
Littler enjoyed a break from darts action at the weekend after winning the Players Championship 32 event last week to book his place at next month's Players Championship Finals.
Schindler, however, was in action as he went up against O'Connor and Van Duijvenbode. And discussing his comeback against O'Connor, the German explained: "He started very, very well. I took the first leg, and then there wasn't much coming from me for a while.
"He was absolutely ruthless, three legs in a row with 180s and 140s. You're just chasing shadows at that point. But I knew he couldn't maintain that level for the whole match - not even Luke Littler could - and he didn't."
Schindler's comments should have come as a huge compliment to Littler, with the 29-year-old clearly paying tribute to the teenager's outstanding ability with darts in hand.
But Littler appeared to take offence at the comments as he hit back in a post on Instagram.
The blockbuster star posted a screenshot of Schindler's quotes, which originally appeared in Dartsnews. And the Nuke wrote: "Living rent free up there in that head."
Littler may have been in a mischievous mood when he took a swipe at Schindler. The talented player went on to call out Liverpool fans following the Merseyside team's defeat to his beloved Manchester United on Sunday evening.
The Red Devils overcame Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, with Harry Maguire scoring the winner in the 84th minute after Cody Gakpo had cancelled out Bryan Mbeumo's opener moments earlier.
And Littler wrote on Instagram after the match: "Yanited, Yanited, Yanited. Where's the Scousers at, back under your rock you go cause we are Man United and we are never gonna stop."
