Miranda Hart confirms secret wedding as she opens up on 'tough few years'

Miranda Hart has revealed that she secretly got married after enduring a 'tough few years'. The beloved comedian made the heartwarming announcement on BBC's The One Show, where she joined hosts Alex Jones and Alex Scott to discuss her latest book, 'I Haven't Been Entirely Honest With You'.

Miranda, 51, opened up about finding love and tying the knot, offering fans a glimpse into her personal life. She gushed about her mystery husband, whom she met at 49.

She said: "I'm married, I got married at 51 and it's just so lovely! I'd written Gary for onscreen Miranda and it wasn't until I was 49 that I met my person."

The star teased readers with hints about their romantic tale in her book, choosing to keep the details of their meeting under wraps for a surprising reveal.

Describing him as her best friend and source of immense joy, she expressed her delight at being a 'young bride at 51'.

Miranda also expressed her desire for her story to inspire hope in others, especially those facing challenges. She recounted: "The fact that I met someone during a pandemic, during chronic illness, when I couldn't get out of bed or out of the house... I really, really wanted to meet someone, I didn't want to do life on my own anymore."

She concluded with an uplifting note, emphasizing the power of hope in overcoming adversity: "The fact that I could meet somebody, it's not some of romcom story but it's hope. Whatever situation you are in, there is always hope. There is always hope that things really do change," reports .

Elsewhere in the show, Miranda confessed that it has been a 'tough year' as she opened up about her struggle with chronic illness. She revealed: "It's not been the most pleasant few years. I've mostly been in bed with chronic illness and it's been a tough few years."

She added: " She further added: "It's nice to be back on TV and I feel very excited because once you've been in bed and housebound with a chronic illness that takes a long time to be diagnosed, you miss life so I'm thrilled to be here."
