Paramount Plus adds 'masterful' horror that is everything fans want

Paramount Plus has just added a masterful horror film that is said to be everything fans want.

The genre-blending film, Heart Eyes, was only released in cinemas earlier this year before becoming a sensation on Netflix in the United States.

It proved to be a box office success, raking in around $32 million worldwide while it cost less than $20 million to produce.

The film boasts a cast of seasoned horror actors, with Scream franchise star Mason Gooding leading the pack alongside Totally Killer's Olivia Holt.

Now, UK audiences can see what all the hype is about on Paramount's streaming library.

Viewers can access it either through the dedicated app or as an add-on subscription via Amazon Prime Video.

The plot of the film reveals that for the past several years, a masked maniac with glowing, red eyes has been terrorising Valentine's Day by stalking and murdering unsuspecting couples trying to enjoy the day. When a cynical ad executive and her hopelessly romantic colleague become the next target, they decide to fight back and end the reign of terror, reports the Mirror.

Heart Eyes scored a more than respectable 78% rating on the website Rotten Tomatoes. Critics praised how it managed to successfully blend both horror and romantic comedy to deliver both frights and laughs.

One critic declared: "Heart Eyes knows exactly what it is and fully commits to the chaos. The jump scares are effective, the comedy lands, and the action moves at full speed. It is a Scream clone in all the best ways, with just enough originality to carve out its own space."

Another remarked: "Horror and rom-com fans alike are sure to have heart eyes for Heart Eyes with extravagant set pieces, intricate kills, witty one-liners, and heart-swelling romantic moments that celebrate the best of both genres."

Someone else noted: "A perfect blend of gory mayhem and romantic fun. While it lacks a compelling whodunit mystery, it more than makes up for it with two leads who share incredible chemistry."

Whilst another drew comparisons to the Scream franchise, commenting: "Heart Eyes is such a fun ride! It totally gave me Scream 4 vibes-smart, self-aware, and full of tension. The acting was great, and even the over-the-top or cheesy moments felt intentional in the best way."

They added: "It's got everything-gore, comedy, romance-and somehow balances it all perfectly, making it super easy to watch.
