It's the two Lukes' world and we're just living in it. To the surprise of absolutely nobody, it was coming up against in the final of this week's Premier League.
There was at least a mini-upset when Humphries defeated reigning world champion Littler, who had finished 11 points clear of his opponent in the regular season. Although, suggesting that the world No.1 and former world champion is an underdog does sound a little silly, doesn't it?
The truth of the matter is, they're just too good. At least, just too good for the chasing pack, with Littler and Humphries threatening a Chuckle Brothers-style duopoly over the darting world. For the big titles over the next few years, it could be a case of 'to me, to you' between the pair.
In a way, that's great for the PDC. A Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo type rivalry will put bums on seats and get fans tuning into matches. But not one it comes to one of the premier events on the darting calendar: the World Cup of Darts.
That's because, for the World Cup, it isn't a traditional one vs one format, instead, each competing nation is made up of two players, with Littler and Humphries set to represent Team England together. It's a formidable partnership and one that, unsurprisingly, will see England enter the tournament as favourites.
You'd be a brave person to bet against them taking the title, not least because Humphries has winning experience at the World Cup already, having triumphed with Michael Smith last year. But what if, as is the case with most of the other big tournaments, they just keep winning and winning and winning?
It's unlikely either of them will drop out of the top two in the world rankings, let alone the two highest-ranked Englishman, for some time, such has been their dominance. And while excitement can be found in them locking horns and going head-to-head in the big solo tournaments, the World Cup becomes a bit of an afterthought if it's just the pair of them reigning supreme year on year.
Of course, nothing has been won yet. Despite talking a good game, they might get on stage with each other and realise their styles aren't compatible at all. But if, as is expected, they click and start to trounce their opponents, the PDC might've made a rod for their own back.
The pair were quizzed about the upcoming event following Thursday night's Premier League final. , Littler said: "I can't wait, obviously he [Humphries] won it last year, so he can help lead me to victory."
Before Humphries added: "Well, we won't play like that [laughs] that's for sure. We're both really good friends, but we're good players. If we connect, then we're going to stand a great chance of winning it. I know the pressure is going to be on us, we believe that we can win and if we do play our best, I don't think anybody is going to be able to stop us."
The World Cup gets underway on 12 June and runs through until 15 June.
