A man has been injured after a light aircraft crashed into a field in Essex this afternoon. Emergency services rushed to the scene near Whitehouse Road in Stebbing shortly before 1.30pm. Fire crews, police, and the ambulance service worked together to help the man out of the wreckage and make the area safe.
The injured pilot, an adult man, was taken to Broomfield Hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries. The fire service said they used an off-road vehicle to dampen the area around the aircraft due to a fire risk. Firefighters from Dunmow, Newport, Brentwood and Saffron Walden attended alongside paramedics, ambulance officers, and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
