Several supermarkets in the UK have recalled food products and drinks as the Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a series of 'do not eat' warnings. UK supermarkets-including Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Iceland, and Lidl-have issued product recalls due to safety or quality concerns.
Shoppers who may have purchased the affected items are urged to check the batch codes or 'best before' dates to identify any recalled products. If a match is found, customers can return the items to the store where they were bought and receive a full refund, even without a receipt.
Marks & Spencer is recalling its 120g M&S Milk Chocolate Honeycomb (lot number 5242, best before 12 May 2026) because it may contain peanuts not listed on the label. This poses a risk to people with peanut allergies. No other products are affected. The company is working with allergy support groups to spread the word and has placed notices in stores to explain the recall and guide customers on returning the product.
The Food Standard Agency (FSA) says: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to peanuts, do not eat it. Instead return it to your nearest store for a full refund. For more information, please contact Marks & Spencer on 03330 148555."
Lidl allergy recall:Lidl is recalling its Red Hen Tempura Chicken Steaks because they may contain milk that isn't clearly marked on the label. This could pose a health risk for people with milk allergies or intolerances. The recall applies to 380g four-packs with best before dates of 11, 16, 22, and 30 December 2026, and 17 January 2027. Customers are advised not to eat the product and return it for a refund.
A Lidl spokesperson toldSouth Wales Argus: "Lidl GB is recalling the above-mentioned product due to milk not being in bold with the back of pack ingredients. This may be a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to milk. If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to milk we advise you not to eat it. Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store where a full refund will be given. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation. For further information, contact Customer Care on customer.care@lidl.co.uk or 0203 966 5566."
A spokesperson for the Food Standards Agency (FSA) added: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."
Tesco has recalled its Free From Breadcrumbs because they contain wheat that isn't listed on the label. This could be harmful for people with wheat or gluten allergies, or those with coeliac disease. The Food Standards Agency advises customers not to eat the product and to return it to Tesco for a refund.
A spokesman for the FSA said: "Tesco is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a recall notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
"If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or coeliac disease do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is required. For more information contact Tesco Customer Services at tesco.com/help/contact."
The recall affects all batch codes and best before of the breadcrumbs. A Tesco spokesman told South Wales Argus: "We are recalling all date and batch codes of Tesco Free From Breadcrumbs 170g, due to the presence of undeclared wheat (gluten) in the product. This means there is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy/intolerance to wheat (gluten). No other Tesco products are affected by this recall. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused."
Iceland safety recall:Iceland is recalling its Vegetable Lasagne due to concerns it may contain pieces of plastic, making it unsafe to eat. The affected packs have best before dates of July 23 and July 30, 2026. Customers are advised not to eat the product and to return it for a refund.
They said: "Iceland Foods Ltd is recalling the above product. The company has issued a recall notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
"If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For more information, please call 0800 328 0800."
An Iceland spokesman told the publication: "We are taking the precautionary measure of recalling the dates codes of the above product because it may contain hard pieces of plastic making it unsafe to eat.
