Vodafone and EE mobile network down as thousands unable to make calls

Thousands of Vodafone and EE customers across the UK are experiencing fresh mobile service disruptions, with many unable to make or receive calls for the second day in a row. Reports of the outage began flooding in again around 10am Thursday morning, less than 24 hours after EE announced it had resolved a major technical issue affecting voice services.

According to Downdetector, which tracks outages based on user reports, more than 1,300 issues were logged by 2.50pm. Customers have taken to social media to express their frustration, not only over the loss of service but also the lack of communication from the providers. Some users claim they cannot even reach customer service lines to seek help or updates.

In a Tweet EE said: "Following yesterday's technical fault, we are currently experiencing some voice call issues today. The impact appears to be less widespread but we are working to resolve this as soon as possible and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Yesterday, EE's parent company, BT, released a statement confirming the initial technical problem had been fixed.

"Following a technical fault impacting voice services on our network earlier today, we have now resolved the problem and the service is running as normal.

"We sincerely apologise and recognise the inconvenience this may have caused," a spokesperson said.

Similarly, Vodafone replied to disgruntled customers on X, stating they are working on fixing the issue.

They said: "Hi there. We understand the importance of keeping connected. Rest assured that we're here to help. Please drop us a DM here and we'll gladly help."

On Downdetector, a number of users shared the impact the disruption was having on their day.

One commenter wrote: "I can't get hold of my elderly father he's 81! He's currently with Vodafone and I'm on EE.

"When will this be resolved?? I'm very worried about my father's well-being? I don't drive and I live 25 miles away!"

Another said: "Vodafone site down, can't receive calls for my business on my mobile. Been on hold for ages."

While the majority of services appear to be restored at various times, intermittent issues have persisted for some users, particularly with outgoing and incoming calls.

Both EE and Vodafone have encouraged customers to monitor their official service pages and social media channels for the latest updates.
