Manchester City star striker Erling Haaland has taken over the Premier League by storm since the last two seasons and the the 24-year old is getting better and better with every passing year. Ever since he burst into the scene with Red Bull Salzburg in Austria, he never looked back. He smashed scoring records in Germany with Borussia Dortmund and then he went onto become one of the best strikers in the world in England. He already has a staggering record of 72 goals in 70 games in the EPL itself and manager Pep Guardiola has regarded him as one of those players, who is at par with the greats of the game - Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, when it comes to scoring goals and even the fans have started comparing him to them. Both these legends have shattered innumerable records in the past 16 years, but now the question arises, can the Norwegian international forward can do what these guys have done for the game and at the same time be EPL's greatest-ever scorer? Times Now caught up with former Manchester City, Chelsea as well as ex England star, Shaun Wright-Phillips during the Star Sports Press Room show with select media. We threw the big question towards the ex midfielder and the 42-year old questioned people, who thinks that Haaland is not capable of doing it. He highlighted that despite being injured, Erling can still come back and win the Golden Boot, which also talks a lot about his hunger to excel. “How can you say it’s not possible? Over the years, people doubted if he could replicate his form in the Premier League, but no one could have predicted he’d achieve what he did in his first year. Even in his second year, despite being injured for part of it, he won the Golden Boot. He had a long summer break and came back hungry. But as great as he is, he also has a special team around him creating chances, so it’s a credit to them. As a midfielder, you’d keep creating those chances because, more often than not, they’re going in'', he told. Wright-Phillips, who is the son of Arsenal legend Ian Wright also added that he finds it funny that people have only started comparing him with Messi-Ronaldo, but if his goal-scoring record is checked, he has been prolific since the Dortmund days. The former England footballer keeps his fingers crossed and says that if he keeps on converting his chances, he will easily go onto break more records. “It’s funny that people are only now comparing him to Messi and Ronaldo, but if you look at his goal-scoring record before joining City, it’s always been there. The difference is, now he’s doing it while winning the Premier League and Champions League. He’s always been consistent, whether for his club or country. As long as you keep giving him chances, wherever he is — fingers crossed it's at City — it’s hard to imagine him not breaking records'', he ended. Shaun Wright-Phillips, who is in Delhi for the Manchester City Trophy Tour has won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the FA Community Shield during his playing career. For England, he has represented his nation at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The ex winger has appeared in a combined 562 games for club and country, scoring 70 goals and 59 assists in a senior career spanning almost two decades.
