Delhi: After the report of a 30-year-old Delhi police constable, Sandeep Malik, being killed in West Delhi’s Nangloi area after being run over by a car early on Sunday morning came to light, the details from the Delhi Police’s diary entry has made some shocking revelation. The car, driven by an enraged man, hit and dragged the constable for over 30 feet before crushing him against another stationary vehicle. The two men in the car were reportedly intoxicated and attacked Constable Malik after he had stopped them from drinking inside their vehicle.

What Happened Before The Accident? The incident occurred around 2:15 am when Constable Malik was on routine patrol near Veena Enclave, dressed in civilian clothes due to a rise in burglary cases in the area. According to police, he noticed a suspiciously parked car in a railway yard parking lot and confronted its two occupants, identified as Dharmendra and Rajnish, who were drinking inside the vehicle. Malik instructed them to leave, but the duo refused, resulting in a heated argument.Senior police officials reported that after the confrontation, the accused left the parking lot in their car, and Malik pursued them on his motorcycle. The suspects, however, waited for him outside Veena Enclave, where they deliberately ran him over. CCTV footage captured the moment, confirming that the constable was mowed down without any provocation. According to the footage, the car reversed slightly and then tailed Malik before running him over. Upon impact, Malik was thrown off his motorcycle, and he was crushed between the suspects' Wagon R and another vehicle. Despite being rushed to Sonia Hospital and later transferred to Balaji Hospital in Paschim Vihar, he succumbed to his injuries. His body was handed over to his family after an autopsy. Arrest and InvestigationAn FIR for murder was registered, and Rajnish, one of the car's occupants, was arrested. The vehicle was seized, and police found a liquor bottle and packets of chips inside. "The car driver said to the constable, ‘Tumhari Aukaat Kya Hai?' ("What is your status?") before running him over," said a police officer, quoting the eyewitness account of Malik’s colleague who was on duty with him at the time. The second occupant, Dharmendra, who is still on the run, allegedly ordered Rajnish to kill the constable, saying, "Today, run over this constable Sandeep and finish him off." Police are searching for Dharmendra, who is believed to have a property rental business, while Rajnish's family runs a general store. As the investigation continues, police officials say they are focusing on locating Dharmendra and will comment further once they have his version of the events. The case may be handed over to the Crime Branch for a deeper probe.
