Returns to directionAs he celebrates his birthday today, fans have even more reason to rejoice as Upendra returns to the director's chair for UI after nearly a decade. Since the release of Uppi 2 in 2015, the acclaimed filmmaker and actor had stepped away from directing, but this comeback holds special significance for his loyal fanbase.His much-awaited directorial film UI is releasing in October.During his early days under the mentorship of his guru, Kashinath, Upendra worked, gaining expertise in almost every department of the filmmaking aspects.After being credited as writer in Crazy Star V Ravichandran starrer comedy horror Sriramachandra, Upendra made his directorial debut with the film Tharle Nan Maga featuring Jaggesh in the lead. Thereafter, he directed Shhh!, a horror suspense thriller. This was the first time Upendra infused a single Kannada letter ‘Sha’ with a skull denoting silence meaning Shhh! The horror suspense thriller and the title Shhh! worked wonders for Upendra.
