Prayagraj: On the instructions of the Aviation Ministry, the Prayagraj airport administration has stopped issuing all types of visitor passes as part of enhanced security measure in the backdrop of the military conflict between India and Pakistan.

Under the new system, only passengers will be allowed to enter the airport premises.

Additionally, the security checks have been enhanced at the airport.

Passengers must arrive three hours before flight departure and will be checked twice. The first check is conducted at the security counter after the check-in counter, and the second is done at the apron before boarding the plane.

On Friday, 10 aircraft operated at the airport, including six planes from Indigo and two each from Alliance and Akasa Air. During this time, 744 passengers arrived and 732 departed. According to the airport administration, all the planes operated on time. No flight was cancelled, although the number of passengers was less due to the present situation between India and Pakistan.

This was the first time after April 27 that fewer than 1,500 passengers travelled through the airport. The airport administration said more than 100 passengers cancelled their tickets in the last two days.
