NEW DELHI: Rajani, the wife of BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw , expressed deep gratitude to the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi after her husband was handed over to Indian authorities by the Pakistan Rangers on Wednesday.

Shaw inadvertently crossed into Pakistani territory on April 23 while on operational duty in the Ferozepur sector of Punjab, where he was subsequently detained.

The jawan’s safe return was met with immense relief and emotion from his family, especially his wife, Rajani Shaw, who thanked PM Modi, stating, 'Everything is possible if there is PM Modi.'

Rajani said, “Everything is possible if there is PM Modi. When Pahalgam attack occurred on 22nd April, he avenged everyone's 'suhag' within 15-20 days through Operation Sindoor. Four-five days later, he brought back my 'suhag'. So, I would like to fold my hands and extend my heartfelt gratitude."

Recounting the emotional moment, she added, “I am very happy today. We received a call from an officer in the morning. My husband also video-called me. He is physically fit. He told me to not be tense, that he is fine, and that he would call me at 3pm.”

Rajani also expressed her gratitude for the support from both state and central authorities. She mentioned speaking with West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who reassured her that her husband would return this week.

“I spoke with the CM three-four days ago. She reassured me that my husband would return this week and said she was in touch with BSF officers.”

Rajani expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying, "I had everyone's support, the entire country was standing with me. So, thank you to everyone with folded hands - my husband could return to India due to all of you."

Shaw had accidentally crossed the border while escorting farmers near the “zero line,” a stretch along the India-Pakistan border where farming is permitted under BSF supervision.
