Nashik: A 58-year-old mason died after falling from a height of approximately 12 to 15 feet while working on a construction project in the Cidco area of the city. The deceased, identified as Mohammad Ali Shaikh , was a resident of Pakhal Road near Nagji Circle.
According to the Ambad police, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Friday while Shaikh was working on the slab of an under-construction house. "The slab gave way, and he fell from a height of close to 12 to 15 feet," an officer said.
People present at the site immediately rushed Shaikh to the hospital, but he was declared brought dead. Police confirmed that he suffered a fatal head injury in the fall.
Shaikh, a native of Nashik city, had taken on the job of renovating the house in Cidco. The police said he was working with only one assistant, as the project was relatively small. "Since the work was small, he accepted the contract and was working by himself with one other person assisting him," the officer added.
He had reportedly been working at the site for about a month.
A case of accidental death has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
