Aizawl: C Ngunlianchunga, the lone Congress legislator in the 40-member Mizoram state legislative assembly, on Monday said he will not avail anticipatory bail in the charges against him related to a graft case and would prefer to go to prison rather than apply for anticipatory bail.
Addressing an event of International Nurses day at south Mizoram's Lawngtlai town, the MLA elected from Lawngtlai West assembly seat said he was not involved in the alleged corruption case as accused by the state anti-corruption bureau.
He said the case stemmed from the proposed construction of Lawngtlai by-pass road during his tenure as chief executive member of the LADC when he had asked the land owners to donate lands as fund for road construction, to be allocated from Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources, did not include compensation component. The proposed project was later dropped.
