Rajasthan police seize 12.5 quintal of illegal poppy husk

BHILWARA: On Friday, the Jawda police station in Chittorgarh district carried out a major operation against the smuggling of illegal narcotics. During a blockade, they seized 12 quintals, 53 kilograms, and 81 grams of illegal poppy husk packed in 65 sacks from a Bolero pickup truck.

Chittorgarh SP Sudhir Joshi stated that to curb and crack down on the smuggling of illegal narcotics in the district, a special team was formed under the guidance of Rawatbhata ASP Bhagwat Singh Hingad and the supervision of Rawatbhata DSP Kamal Prasad Meena, led by Jawda SHO Devendra Kumar. The police team set up a blockade at Bassi Tirahe.

During this time, a Bolero pickup truck was spotted coming from the direction of Jawda. When the police signalled the driver to stop, the driver halted the vehicle before reaching the blockade. Both the driver and the passenger fled by opening the doors. Although the police pursued them, they managed to escape into the forest area.

Upon searching the stationary pickup, a total of 12 quintals, 53 kilograms, and 81 grams of poppy husk were found packed in 52 jute sacks and 13 plastic bags. The contraband was seized according to regulations, and further investigation is ongoing.
