Jaipur: Police in Bikaner are searching for a group of men who allegedly beat a woman to death after she told them not to drink alcohol near her house. The woman, identified as Lakshmi, was severely assaulted in her home in the Ashok Nagar area Thursday night. She was rushed to PBM Hospital but died during treatment Friday.
According to circle officer (Bikaner Sadar) Vishal Jangir, Lakshmi and her son objected to a group of men consuming alcohol just outside their house. "The group left but returned a few minutes later. They reportedly forced their way inside and attacked both the mother and son. Lakshmi sustained serious injuries during the attack and later died in the hospital," Jangir said.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the confrontation escalated quickly. Police officials said the men were drunk and became violent when Lakshmi and her son confronted them.
Police from Jayanarayan Vyas Colony station are reviewing nearby CCTV footage in an attempt to identify and trace the suspects. "As per the statements of the witnesses and investigation conducted so far, we suspect that more than five men were involved in the attack," said the officer.
While some individuals have reportedly been identified, no arrests have been made yet. Efforts are underway to locate the men, and police say they are close to making progress based on leads provided by Lakshmi's son.
