Jamshedpur: The improved weather conditions and scanty rainfall brought relief to denizens on Friday following two consecutive days of heavy showers in the Steel City. However, the traffic movement on the Jamshedpur-Chandil stretch of Tata-Ranchi NH-33 remained disrupted for the second day as restoration work at Fadlogora chowk near Kali mandir in Pardih is still ongoing.
"A portion of the road has been repaired. Hopefully by late hours, the entire road will be ready for normal movement of traffic," said Deputy SP (Traffic), Sriniraj Kumar. Notably, the four-lane highway was dug on Thursday to make way for flood water at Fadlogora which was logged due to the large underground drain getting clogged allegedly with the refuse of the construction materials of the flyover being build by the NHAI at Pardih.
Meanwhile, DC Karn Satyarthi on Friday inspected water-logged residential areas in Shastrinagar, Domuhani, Bagunnagar, Sankosai and spoke with the affected people. He also visited relief centres in the affected areas.
In a rain related incident, Sanjay Verma (40), a security guard, died in Kunwar basti in Mango after he accidentally fell into the overflowing drain late hours on Thursday.
In a separate incident, three villagers including a woman Sarla Singh (42), her two kids Bhagwati (9), and Priya (6), got seriously injured when the wall of the thatched house collapsed at Kuiyani village in Bodram police station limits on Thursday. The state weather office recorded 42.2mm of rain between 5.30 pm Thursday and 5.30 pm Friday.
